According to an estimate, one million people smoke Shisha every day all around the world. Cigarette smoking is almost losing out to Shisha smoking particularly in the posh areas of our cities. This habit is being adopted by the youth of our country with frightening rapidity. According to health experts, one hour's smoking of Shisha is equivalent to 200 cigarettes. It is 200 times more hazardous to health to smoke Shisha as compared to cigarette smoking. It creates 15 times more carbon monoxide than traditional cigarettes. Moreover, it contains 80 times more nicotine than plain tobacco. Nearly, the risk of all diseases related to cigarette smoking is doubled if compared to Shisha smoking. I solemnly denounce the evil of Shisha smoking that has started gnawing at the morality of our young generation. As if cigarette smoking was not enough, the nuisance of Shisha has found its way in our society. Many restaurants in Karachi, Islamabad, Lahore and other big and small cities are catering to Shisha smoking. I entreat the government to impose ban on Shisha smoking and to curb this obnoxious curse with an iron hand. It is incumbent upon the government to save our young ones from swerving away to Shisha addiction which will cripple their health and happiness after some years of Shisha smoking.
