LAHORE - Global Fund will provide 255 million dollars to Pakistan for prevention and control of HIV/AIDS, TB and Malaria .
Addressing a press conference on Tuesday, Chief Executive Global Fund for Eradication of AIDS , TB and Malaria Mark Dybel said that financial help would be extended in three years to reduce the burden of these diseases.  Executive Secretary Stop TB Dr Lucica Ditui and Manager TB Control Program Dr Ijaz Qadeer were also present.  Mark Dybel said that the aid was aimed at helping Pakistan to achieve Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) of World Health Organisation (WHO).
Meanwhile, nine member delegation of Global Fund headed by Mark Dybel and Dr Lucica Ditui called on the Advisor to Chief Minister on Health Kh Salman Rafiq. Secretary Health Dr Ijaz Munir, DG Health Dr Zahid Pervaiz, Additioal Secretary Technical Dr Salman Shahid and other officers were also present.  Mark Dybel stressed the need of more efforts for eradication of TB and AIDS from the province.
He assured that Global Fund would continue its cooperation with Health Department Punjab for TB and AIDS control.  
Kh Salman Rafiq said that Punjab was facing various challenges and government was working hard to control polio and improvement in primary healthcare system. He thanked the Global Fund Chief Executive for extending cooperation for AIDS and TB control in Punjab.
