Rawalpindi - The third day of ‘Potohar Art and Literature Festival’ ended with the colourful event of drama, flowers arrangement, documentary competitions and regional dress show here on Wednesday at Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture Rawalpindi (PMAS-AAUR).
Rajab Ali Khan Baloch, Parliamentary Secretary National Food Security and Resources, was the chief guest while Commissioner Rawalpindi Zahid Saeed was the guest of honour on the 3rd day of the festival.
Vice Chancellor (VC) Prof Dr Rai Niaz Ahmad inaugurated flower arrangement competition organized with an aim to flourish the creative and artistic skills of the students. In the fresh flower arrangement Iqra Bashir got first position while Saif Ullah and Sahkir Ullah and Afsa Danish got second and third positions respectively.
In the dry flower arrangement, Nitasha got first position while Nouman Qaiser Muzammail and Khadija Ahmad got second and third positions, respectively. Rubi Iqbal, Abdul Haleem, Sadia and Azka Azhar got first, second and third positions receptively in ikebana arrangement competition.
Students from different departments presented dramas and highlighted problems confronting Pakistan. The audiences appreciated the efforts of the amateur student performance and their acting skills. In drama competition, first position was awarded to faculty of agriculture. University of management took second position and education department got the third position.
In documentary competition, information technology institute got first while faculty of agriculture got second and third positions.
Rajab Ali Khan Baloch and Zahid Saeed while addressing praised the efforts of PMAS-AAUR to organize such festival to provide a unique opportunity to unleash their talents in extracurricular activities. They highly commended the brilliant performance of the students in dramatics and documentary competitions. They also distributed certificates and shields among the winner of different competitions.
Earlier, in his welcome address VC extended a very warm welcome to the guests and spoke about various achievements of university and highlighted the events that are being held under the banner of festival. He urged students to strengthen their capabilities and capacity as the future of society and country depends upon them. He also presented souvenir to the Rajab Ali Khan Baloch and Zahid Saeed.
In regional dress show students presented the lifestyle and cultural traditions of different provinces/regions of the country.
The students of different departments of the university attired in colourful dresses embroidered with traditional motifs and designs participated in the catwalk with traditional background music. The show included regional dance, which won a great deal of applause from the audience.
