LAHORE - The City District Government Lahore (CDGL) has decided to demolish 88 old buildings situated in different vicinities of the city.
Notices have been served to the owners of such buildings, which have been declared dangerous. These owners will also have to pay all the expenditures of demolition process.
Presiding over a meeting on Wednesday, Commissioner Lahore Division Abdullah Sumbal directed the district administration to issue notices to the owners of such old buildings, in the light of a survey conducted by City District Government Lahore.
He directed the administration to give warning of seven days to the owners of repairable buildings and one-month notice to the owners of such buildings that should in any case be demolished. The demolishment of such dangerous buildings is essential before the upcoming monsoon in order to save hundreds of lives and to avoid any untoward incident of building collapse, he added.
The commissioner further directed LDA, Lahore Walled City Authority, PHA, Housing Department and TMAs to ensure the demolishing process.
