KARACHI - Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif on Wednesday vowed to continue the operation in Karachi till the complete elimination of all mafias.
General Raheel Sharif expressed these during his visit to the Karachi Corps Headquarters where he was briefed by Corps Commander Lt-Gen Naveed Mukhtar and Director General (DG) Rangers Sindh Maj-Gen Bilal Akbar on operation preparedness, the Karachi operation and the latest law and order situation, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General Maj-Gen Asim Bajwa tweeted.
The chief of the army staff commended the law-enforcement agencies, especially Rangers, for holding peaceful and smooth NA-246 by-election. He also expressed satisfaction over intelligence input and progress of the Karachi operation.
“The Karachi operation is bringing relief to the people by acting against target killers and extortionists. It will remain across the board and indiscriminate,” the army chief said. The Karachi operation would continue till its logical conclusion, the ISPR director general tweeted while quoting the chief of the Army staff.
On twitter, ISPR DG Asim Bajwa said that peace in Karachi was their top priority to revive economic vibrancy and wellbeing of the people. He vowed that the law-enforcement agencies would continue to work with the people and the Sindh government to eradicate all types of mafias from the business hub of the country.
He further said the recent pattern of killings indicated a design which needed to be checked. He asked the intelligence agencies and Rangers to detect, apprehend and expose the perpetrators so that the people of Karachi could take a sigh of relief.
