FIR against former CIA station chief discharged

Islamabad: Islamabad Police today dismissed a case against the former CIA station director, after registering the FIR against him.

Islamabad High Court on a petition of a tribesman had directed the Secretariat Police of the federal capital, to register FIR against the former station chief of CIA Jonathan Banks for the drone strike in Mir Ali, in which the family members of tribesman Karim Khan were killed.

The police registered the FIR on the order of the court against than CIA station director Jonathan Banks, but later dismissed the case, saying that the incident did not take place in its jurisdiction but in FATA.

Zaheenullah, a son of petitioner Karim Khan and his brother Asif Iqbal were killed in a drone attack on 31 December 2009, in tehsil Mir Ali of North Waziristan Agency.
