Islamabad - National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) now features amongst the world’s elite institutions in 2 of the 36 subjects in this year’s QS World University Rankings by subject, announced on Wednesday.

The NUST is now ranked at 271st in the field of electrical and electronic engineering, and 338th in the field of computer science and information systems. Out of the 3,551 universities considered for evaluation 894 made it to the final rankings list. Over a 100 million citations attributions were analysed for over 14,000 programs, to obtain the results. The methodology combines analysis from QS Global Employer and Academic Surveys with bibliometric data from Elsevier’s Scopus database.

It is pertinent to mention that NUST has consistently maintained its position among the top 500 world universities for the last eight years. It is also ranked among the top 130 Asian Universities. Recently, NUST was included among the top 100 universities of BRICS (including Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) and 17 emerging economies of the world. It has been made possible through stringent quality assurance regime at NUST, as seen by its internal quality assurance award by Asia Pacific Quality Network, and very recent academic integrity award given by the prestigious Turnitin Corporation, USA.

These awards and distinctions are not only a matter of pride for the nation, but also reflect the progress being made by Pakistan in the field of higher education, for which the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan is working tirelessly. The students, faculty and staff of NUST deserve full appreciation for winning this distinction.
