Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has constituted an 18-members taskforce for South Punjab (Sahiwal, Multan, Bahawalpur and Dera Ghazi Khan Divisions) headed by PML-N MPA Qazi Adnan Farid to control and eliminate spurious and substandard drugs.

The newly-constituted taskforce will conduct surprise inspection where spurious/ substandard drugs are being manufactured stored and sold. Regional Taskforce will ensure effective enforcement of drug laws, immediate registration of FIRs, timely arrests and investigations, seamless prosecution and exemplary punishment as per law besides quick and quality results of drug samples by the DTLs. The Health Department taskforce will also monitor performance of drug inspectors and false formations in their respective areas of jurisdiction. It will meet regularly and submit the progress report/ proceedings/recommendations to the joint taskforce, office of the Chief Secretary and the Punjab Health Secretary.

According to the notification  issued by Health Department, South Punjab Taskforce consists of following 17-member are: MPA M Ali Khokhar ( Multan), MPA Syed Abdul Aleem (DG Khan), MPA Nishat Hussain Daha (Khanewal), MPA Zeeshan Gormani (Muzaffargarh), the Additional Chief Secretary, the Law Secretary, the Health Secretary, the Prosecution Secretary, the Information Secretary, the PITB Chairman, Divisional Commissioners (concerned), Additional Inspector General of Police, Regional Police officers (concerned), Directors Health Services of the region, Drug Controllers (concerned), Director Drugs testing Laboratory (concerned) and any other member co-opted by Regional the taskforce on drugs.
