LAHORE - Punjab Inspector General of Police Mushtaq Ahmed Sukhera yesterday directed the field police officers to speed up the intelligence-based operations and joint security operations across the province.

The police chief said that security and search operations against crime and terror suspect should continue on a regular basis.

Amid serious security threats, police are conducting search and combing operations in the big cities against suspected elements.

The provincial police officer stated this while addressing the Regional Police Officers’ conference through video link at the Central Police Office yesterday. Senior police officers including Arif Nawaz, Arif Mushtaq, Amjad Javed Saleemi, Ahmed Ishaq Jahangir, Saad Akhter Bherwana, Zaeem Iqbal Sheikh, Aamir Zulfiqar Khan, and Waqas-ul-Hassan were also p-resent on this occasion. The RPOs and the DPOs attended the conference through video-link.

The police emphasized that officers must improve coordination with the general public, elected representatives, business communities, and religious scholars in their respective areas.

The conference also decided to expedite crackdown on the proclaimed offenders throughout the province. It was also decided in the meeting that the posting tenure of the Accountants would be two years and for getting the next posting of the same they have to complete two year’s posting in other sections. In total service they can get six postings as Accountant in steps, decided the conference.

According to a police spokeswoman, it was also decided that after completion of computerized Human Resource of the Punjab police, all transfers and postings would be notified through this system so that all type of malpractices could be stopped. No police officer and official can get his salary through manual system. All salaries will be paid through banks, the spokesperson said.

The conference devised a strategy to handle all received threat alerts through various agencies and operational procedure was also finalized in this regard.
