PESHAWAR - Paying rich tribute to slain lawmaker of PTI and Advisor to CM on Minorities Dr Sardar Soran Singh, Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak on Friday said that provincial government will move court to block the issuance of the notification of Baldev Kumar, the alleged murderer of Soran Singh, as member of KP Assembly by Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).

Through a resolution passed by the provincial assembly unanimously, the lawmakers condemned the killing of Sardar Soran Singh and shed light on his active role in proceedings of the assembly and serving public.

The resolution jointly moved by opposition and treasury benches demanded a special package for the family of Soran Singh. The KP assembly met with Speaker Asad Qaiser in the chair also observed one-minute silence to pay homage to late Sardar Soran Singh. 

The resolution said that government should provide a house and other incentives to the family of the slain lawmaker.

Terming Sardar Soran Singh as the asset of the nation, the government should bear the expenses of his family.

The opposition members also paid rich tributes to the slain Sardar for his efforts for peace and stability in the province. Moreover, candles were lit, while floral wreath was laid on the seat of Sardar Soran Singh.

To pay tribute to Dr Sardar Soran Singh, the KP CM Pervez Khattak on floor of the house said that they would move court to stop the ECP from the issuance of the notification of Baldev Kumar, the alleged murderer of Soran Singh as member of the provincial assembly.

Khattak said that he had consulted the Secretary Law in this regard. The CM added that on coming Monday, they will file petition in the court and will appeal it to stop the issuance of Baldev Kumar’s notification as member of KP Assembly.

He told the house that the IGP has said that case of the alleged murderer, Baldev Kumar will be preceded by the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC). 

The chief minister while paying tributes to late Soran Singh was an asset of the KP Assembly.

He said that during last three years several of their parliamentary colleagues becomes victims of terrorism, but the case of Sardar Soran Singh is of unique nature.

He said that due to his good performance and friendly nature late Soran Singh has turned all people into his friends and the vacuum created due to his murder will be felt for long.

The chief minister said that late Sardar Soran Singh belonged to a poor family and assured that the provincial government will announce relief package for the bereaved family within next three to four days. Pervez Khattak assured the house that children of Sardar Soran Singh will be paid monthly scholarship besides meeting their other needs.

The speaker adjourned the proceedings of the house till coming Monday 3pm.
