MOSCOW - Defence dinisters of Pakistan and Iran have discussed border security issues and necessity to take appropriate decisions in this area.   

The bilateral talk between Khawaja Muhammad Asif and Hossein Dehqan was held on the sidelines Conference on International Security in Moscow.  On the occasion, Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif underlined expansion of relations.

He said that Iran as an ancient country with bright civilisation has plenty of capacities and capabilities, which could be so useful an effective for Islamic world. Khawaja Asif said that both sides should try not to allow radical groups to endanger security and stability neither in borders nor inside the countries.

Iran's Brigadier General Hossein Dehqan said that the Pakistan as a friendly neighbouring country can play a very effective and constructive role in settling regional crisis.

Meanwhile, Minister for Water and Power Khawaja Muhammad Asif on Friday met Russian Energy Minister Alex Novac and discussed extended cooperation in oil, gas and power sectors.

In the meeting, they also confirmed 2018 timeline for LNG pipeline being constructed by Russian build operated and transfer basis (BOT), said a Press release received here.

The Russian Minister also showed keen interest in Jamshoro,Guddu, Dasu and LNG fired plants.

He said that the Russian State owned companies keen to invest in the said sectors.

Meanwhile, Russian Defence Minister Sergey Shoygu also extended robust support for enhancing counter terrorism capabilities of Pakistan.
