Rawalpindi - Regional Police Officer (RPO) Wisal Fakhar Sultan Raja has demoted a police officer on account of providing shelter to an accused of double murder and dismissed another cop over bad reputation.

The RPO also reinstated a police officer after hearing his plea here at his office yesterday.

According to details, RPO Wisal Fakhar while hearing show cause notices has demoted a police officer Rehan Tahir of police station Sadiqabad from the rank of sub-inspector to assistant sub-inspector on account of providing illegal protection to an accused of a double murder.

The regional police chief also dismissed Constable Hafiz Muhammad Ijaz from police service owing to his bad reputation in the department. Similarly, the RPO has reinstated a police officer Muhammad Iqbal on his previous post of ASI after finding his appeal satisfactory. Three more constables namely Nasim Khan, Sabtain and Mehwish Batool have also been reinstated by the RPO.

Wisal Fakhar, on the other hand, rejected the appeal of ASI Riaz Bajwa, who earlier had been demoted from the rank of SI to ASI on charges of misusing his authority.
