Dr. Nasim Ashraf has resigned from PCB's chairmanship after a considerable damage had been done to Pakistan cricket. In all fairness to him, though, we cannot solely hold him responsible for the damage done. He did resign after Pakistan team's dismal performance in the last World Cup, but his resignation was not accepted and he had to continue with his duties. He might be quite competent as a doctor but cricket was not his forte. After World Cup, he wanted to bring a baseball coach for our cricket team. Just shows how unfortunate it was for cricket that he was appointed chairman PCB. Now that Dr. Ashraf has resigned again, his coterie of non-cricketing, corporate fat cats he hired for the PCB should also be shown the door. One already foresees a positive change in our cricket team membership, captaincy, selection committee and the coaching staff. Heads up, guys A pity the chiefs of PHF and PFF, Zafarullah Jamali and Faisal Saleh Hayat, have not resigned yet. What are they waiting for? -SYED AQEEL SARWAR, Lahore, via e-mail, August 20.
