LAHORE-The students, faculty and staff of University of Gujrat (UOG) have raised Rs 9.7 million for flood affectees in their relief campaign launched since August 3, said a press release issued on Sunday. According to the release, the students have personally distributed bulk of the funds, food items in the Swats flood affected areas. Now, they are collecting funds and food items for the southern Punjab, Sindh and Baluchistan areas, it further said. The UOG students started the campaign after the university administration received first directive from the Chancellor/Governor of the Punjab regarding the prompt undertaking of relief measures on August 03, 2010. A meeting called by the Vice Chancellor, UOG, for urgent flood relief measures, was held the same day to formulate a comprehensive strategy involving faculty, administration and students to help achieve the objectives of the flood relief campaign to rapidly provide all kinds of assistance to the sufferers.
