LAHORE - The executive district officer (education) on Wednesday formed a two-member committee to probe corruption and irregularities in the recruitment of educators of all SSE categories done by former EDO Dr Arshad, a document available with TheNation reveals.
The inquiry was initiated after this was pointed by Allah Rakha Gujjar, EST City District Government Boys High School Green Town Lahore, in an application to the EDO office.
Allah Rakha pointed out that the former EDO had recruited more educators than advertised and required in 2009, adding in that way he not only misused his authority but also committed corruption in the said recruitments.
He also claimed there was no record of those fake recruitments done by the former EDO, for the very purpose to receive illegitimate perks. He alleged that Arshad had maintained a diary, used as ‘Mobile Dispatch Register’, wherein record of those recruitments was noted. Moreover, the original record for the recruitments was never found in the real dispatch register.
He added that irregularities were committed to such extent that an applicant qualified as MA Urdu, not even certified in any sort of computer studies, was recruited against the post of computer teacher.
He prayed in his application that many similar cases might surface during the course of the inquiry. He claimed that Arshad was also involved in corruption during his posting as Faisalabad and Sialkot EDO, asserting that certain cases had already been proven true. An inquiry committee comprising District Education Officer (SE) Liaqat Ali Malik and Senior Headmaster Shadbagh Shahid Iqbal was constituted to look into the matter and report within seven days.
