Eight Indian Air Force (IAF) personnel died after two Air Force helicopters crashed near Sarmat village in Jamnagar in Gujarat after a mid-air collision on Thursday. There were four people on board each helicopter. One of the helicopters caught fire after the collision. The police and Air Force personnel have reached the crash site. Jamnagar municipal corporation fire brigade was also reached the spot after the incident. The villagers, who witnessed the accident, said the two choppers collided soon after take off and crashed near the village, 15 kms from Jamnagar city. The helicopters, which had taken off from the Jamnagar Air Force Base, were on a training sortie. An IAF spokesperson in New Delhi said that a court of inquiry has been ordered to determine the reasons behind the crash.
