LAKKI MARWAT – A woman and her baby died during delivery at the city hospital Lakki on Wednesday.

Hafiz Javed Ahmad Khan and Hafiz Mufti Matiullah, the relatives of Abdul Rehman’s wife, said that the female was brought to hospital in Lakki city from Abakhel with labour pain at 5:00 am. They alleged that the labour room facility of the hospital was presenting a bad look, as there was no lady doctor, nor other medical staff to handle the case.

They said that the expectant female patient remained in excruciating pain for nearly one hour and later she along with her baby died at 5:55 am. They demanded of the chief minister and higher authorities of health department to take notice of the matter and initiate action against the absent staffers.

When contacted the medical superintendent of city hospital Dr Ghulam Ali said that besides calling for an explanation from the absent nurse a report had also been sent to the Executive District Officer Health with recommendations to suspend her from service. 

He said that the expectant female was taken to a private health facility of a lady health visitor a day before she was brought to the city hospital in very critical condition. He told that a senior medical officer Dr Ismail Iqbal went to the ward at 5:30 am to examine her but by then she had died.

Meanwhile, the district education department has released funds to the parent teacher councils for repair work.

 of govt boy’s primary schools to carry out petty repair works and purchase class consumable articles, said deputy district officer primary Rehmatullah Khan on Wednesday.

He said that on the directives of ESED EDO Haji Meer Azam Khan funds had been directly shifted to the bank accounts of parent teacher councils. He told that the councils comprised of parents with headmaster of the respective school as its secretary would spent money on the petty nature works in the schools.
