Islamabad is seeking help from China and Friends of Democratic Pakistan (FoDP) for the construction of Diamer-Basha dam – a $12 billion, 4,500MW project, with 8.5MAF storage. An official of Water and Power Ministry revealed “they have contacted some Gulf States, which fall in FoDP group, for investment in the project but the favourite option is China.”
