7kg gold looted in Lahore

LAHORE  - Gunmen stormed into a jewelry shop located in the Lohari Gate police limits on Thursday and snatched away gold ornaments worth Rs 30 million, police sources claimed.
The shop owner fell unconscious because of huge loss while the traders shut down their shops and staged strong protest demonstration in the locality against the police negligence.
Four robbers equipped with automatic weapons forced the entry into the jewelry shop of Qaiser Arif in the Soha Bazaar. They held up the salesman and shop owner at gunpoint, collected 7-kg gold ornaments, and fled away without facing any resistance.
Dozens of traders shut down their businesses and staged protest demonstration against the worsening law and order situation. They also chanted slogans against the government.
A police officer said that a special team has been constituted to probe into the incident and to track down the gang involved in the robbery. The police have registered a case against unidentified robbers and are investigating with no arrest made yet.
