LAHORE - A district and sessions judge on Thursday issued non-bailabale arrest warrants for former PML-N MPA Rana Asif Mehmod for hiding his dual nationality in 2008 elections.
Syed Hamid Hussain Shah was hearing the case. The court had issued arrest warrants but the accused could not appear before the court. On Thursday, the court issued his non-bailable arrest warrants.
Meanwhile, the judge adjourned by September 20, hearing of dual nationality case against former PML (Q) MNA Begum Shahnaz Sheikh. She was accused of tempering official documents.
The Election Commission Punjab Office had moved a reference against the parliamentarians for having dual nationalities, requesting the court to initiate legal proceedings against them for hiding facts from the ECP. The ECP had also got registered an FIR against Shahnaz under charges of forgery and tampering with the official document.
