Technical and quality education is prerequisite for fighting the unemployment challenge and making progress in the modern era of technological advancement, said an educationist here on Thursday.

Government College University Faisalabad Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Zakir Hussain stated this while chairing a meeting of Directorate of Medical Sciences held in connection with briefing regarding feasibility of launching first degree programmes including BS (Eastern Medicines and Surgery) and BS (Certified Diabetes Educators). Registrar Muhammad Ayub, Dean Dr Naureen Aziz Qurehi, Dean Pervez Azeem, Director Medical Sciences Dr Riaz Hussain Dub, Dr Huq Nawaz, Dr Muhammad Zubair, Adviser HR Shiekh Akram, Dr Nighat Bhatti, Dr Zafar Ahmad, Dr Zubair Siddique, Treasure Ghalam Nabi, Dr Umair Arshad Bajwa, Dr Hadayat Rasool and others were also present. The vice chancellor said that GCUF was taking revolutionary steps by kicking off new disciplines to compete the world in term of trained and skilled manpower. It will become hallmark to make progress in the every sphere of life, he added.

He praised the Directorate for conducting a series of seminars on fatal and chronic diseases to raise awareness among the people regarding precautions and treatment.

He directed the meeting to take every possible to shape the skills of students by giving them guidelines and state-of-the-art facilities. He said skilled and committed teachers play a vital role in producing manpower having command over their respective fields. Terming the youth future builder of the country, he also called for steps for their character building.
