HAFIZABAD
District Coordination Officer of Hafizabad asked the Education Department officials to ensure success of Universal Primary Education Programme, saying that he was least satisfied with the improvement made in this connection so far.
Addressing a meeting of District Enrollment Committee, DCO Mansoor Qadir has ordered that Computer Labs installed in the schools be made operational within one week otherwise a stern action would be taken against monitoring officers and head teachers. He said that teachers are respectable persons but only hardworking, dutiful and committed teachers were need of the hour. Only the teachers having missionary spirit can eliminate ignorance, poverty and unemployment which would ultimately materialise the dream of bright and prosperous Pakistan, he added.
The DCO further said that teachers showing good results could be appreciated while those show unsatisfactory results and found negligent in the performance of their duties would be taken to task. He also ordered an action against the absentees for better functioning of schools.
24 vehicles impounded:
The Secretary District/Regional Transport Authority Faryal Naeem has impounded 24 transport vehicles operating without route permit and fitness certificate and having been installed with substandard/illegal gas cylinders.
She also challaned drivers of six transport vehicles and directed the managers of bus/wagon stands to abide by the government orders for ensuring the safety of commuters. Meanwhile, traffic police Hafizabad have challened 4,339 vehicles and imposed total fine of Rs. 1,592,150 for violating different traffic laws during the current month.
MAN SHOOT AT BROTHER: A youth of Mohallah Hussainpura was seriously wounded when his brother-in-law allegedly opened firing on him. According to police, Qaisar Hussain was married to the sister of Sajid. A few days ago, she developed some differences with her husband and settled with her brother Sajid. Qaisar visited the house of Sajid for reconciliation with his wife but Sajid and Qaisar Hussain exchanged hot words. Thereupon, Sajid opened fire on Qaisar. Resultantly, he was seriously wounded and rushed to the DHQ Hospital.
