KARACHI - At least eight people including a police constable were killed in various incidents of target killing here on Friday.
Cop namely Lutafullah was shot dead in an act of target killing in Ayub Goth area of Sohrab Goth. DSP Qamar Ahmed said that Lutafullah was posted to al-Asif Square police post, adding that he was returning home on a motorcycle when some armed motorcyclists targeted and killed him. His body was moved to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for autopsy.
A Sindh secretariat officer was shot dead in an act of target killing at Shah Faisal No 2. The incident took place when Nadeem was on his way to office on a motorcycle. Police said that at least two armed men riding a motorcycle shot him multiple times and managed to flee. Nadeem died on the spot and his body was taken to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for autopsy and later handed over to the family after autopsy.
SHO Abdul Khaliq said the deceased hailed from Hyderabad and used to live along with his family in Shah Faisal Colony. He said that motive behind the incident has yet to be ascertained while further investigation was underway.
Similarly, a person was shot dead in an act of target killing when he was sitting at his roadside stall near Qatar Morr, Orangi Town. Ghulam Nabi aka Bhaiyea, 55, was associated with the Muttahida Qaumi Movement. He had escaped a life attempt last year near Qasba Morr. SHO Tanvir Murad said that at least two armed riders shot and killed him over unexplained reasons while a passerby, namely Aqeel was also wounded in the attack.
In another incident, a person was shot dead on sectarian ground in Liaquatabad area. Police said the deceased identified as Ghulam Babar Zaidi was sitting at a barber’s shop when armed motorcyclists targeted him. Zaidi was taken to hospital where he succumbed to injuries during treatment.
Meanwhile, bodies of three alleged Lyari gangsters were found from outskirts of the city. Two of three bodies were found from Memon Goth police remits while one from Shah Latif. The two bodies were later identified as Rafiq Baloch, Naseer Baloch and Shah Latif. Police said all three victims were abducted and tortured before being shot in their heads.
DSP Pervez Shah suspected that Sohail Dada gang was behind the killings. The deceased gangsters were the members of Dr Shoaib and Baba Ladla gangs. Another shot-dead body of an alleged police informer was found from Lyari within Baghdadi police remits. The deceased identified as Shah Wali was abducted and tortured before being killed. Police suspected the victim was killed by Lyari gangsters for spying.
Separately, an alleged gangster war was killed in Lyari within the limits of Kalakot police station.
The deceased was identified as Shoaib Hussain Baloch, 28, son of Ghulam Hussain Baloch. DSP Anwar Ali Shah said the deceased was associated with the Uzair Baloch group of Lyari gang war, adding that he was sitting in the area when some armed motorcyclists apparently belonging to Baba Ladla gang killed him.
Meanwhile, a person sustained injuries after a blast took place in Mauripur locality. Police said the explosion took place at a diesel tank of an oil tanker. Mauripur SHO Chaudhry Saleem while ruling out the possibility of the terror activity said that the explosion took place during welding at a diesel tank, adding that one person was wounded.
