KARACHI - At least five people were killed and two others injured in a clash between two groups in Bhains Colony area of the metropolis on Saturday.

Five people were killed and two injured in an armed clash between two groups in the jurisdiction of Sukhan Police Station in Bhaisn Colony area of Landhi. The bodies and injured were shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre.

A veterinary doctor, Dr Abbas Ali Merchant and his security guard were included in the victims. Police arrested 10 suspects after the clash and further investigation is under way. Separately, two persons were killed and four others injured in different road mishaps in the metropolis. A man, aged about 35, was killed when a speeding vehicle hit him near Edhi Center in Sohrab Goth. The body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for an autopsy.

In another accident, a man, Noor Rahman, 32, son of Shairwan, was killed when two trucks collided with each other in Post Qasim area. The body was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center (JPMC) for medico-legal formalities.

Mahmood, 25, son of Hashim, was injured by a vehicle in Super Highway. He was brought to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for treatment.

In another road mishap, three members of same family, Yasir, 40, his wife, Faiza, 32, and their son, Hammad, six year were injured when their motorcycle was hit by a rickshaw in Korangi No. 1. They were shifted to JPMC for treatment.

In another incident, a man was killed and two other persons were injured in separate firing incidents.

A man, aged about 45, was gunned down by unknown armed men in Power House Chowrangi in North Karachi. The body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for an autopsy. In another incident, a man, Alam, 40, was injured by stray bullets near his house in Faqira Goth area of Gulshan-e-Maymar. He was brought to Civil Hospital Karachi for treatment.

Muhammad Asif, 45, resident of Bafurzone, was shot and injured by unknown gunmen near Sarina Mobile Market in North Karachi. He was shifted to ASH for treatment.

Meanwhile, Pakistan Customs arrested two persons, recovering millions of rupees from them at Jinnah International Airport in Karachi.

Pakistan Customs during last 48 hours arrested 2 passengers, Rehmat Khan and Ali Karani, when they were at Jinnah International Airport to fly to Dubai. During their search Rs8.2 million was recovered from them. They said Rs5 million was recovered from Rehmat Khan and Rs3 million from Ali Karani. The currency was concealed inside their articles. FIR has been lodged against the arrested persons. Further investigation is in process.
