Srinagar: In occupied Kashmir, the PDP-BJP led regime has booked 163 people under the law, Public Safety Act (PSA), on charge of organizing protest demonstrations and rallies in the Valley during the ongoing uprising in the territory.

The data compiled by the authorities confirmed that 163 people including Hurriyet leaders and youth have been booked under the PSA.

The official document revealed that the PSA has been invoked against the 163 people in last 50 days. It further disclosed that over one thousand persons were currently under the police scanner and the authorities intended to book more people under the controversial law to curb protests.

The detention orders under PSA are generally passed by the District Magistrates on consideration of the dossier prepared by the concerned SSP or SP. The person booked under the PSA can be detained for up to two years without trial.
