LAHORE  -  Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar chaired a meeting here Wednesday to discuss the security matters ahead of the holy month of Muharram.

The meeting reviewed in detail the steps taken for the protection of life and property of the people in wake of upcoming holy month, anti-dengue measures and tree plantation campaign.

The chief minister directed to make foolproof arrangements for maintenance of law and order and protection of life and property of the people during the holy month.

He directed that maintenance of peaceful atmosphere during the holy month of Muharram should be ensured at any cost.

He also ordered establishment of control rooms should at provincial, divisional, district and tehsil levels.

He warned that strict action will be initiated against provocative speeches and all-out efforts should be made to maintain peace. He said that every possible steps should be taken to further promote religious harmony during the holy month of Moharram and added that rule of law will be ensured at every cost in the province. He said that every possible step should be initiated for safety from dengue and high-quality spray should be used to eradicate dengue larvae. No phony show would be tolerated in this regard, he added.

The chief minister said that green Pakistan is the agenda of PTI; therefore, tree plantation drive should be made a success. Maximum trees should be planted by following KPK model, he added. ACS (Home) gave a detailed briefing regarding security arrangements during the holy month while IGP apprised the meeting about the arrangements made by his team. Information Minister Fayyazul Hasan Chohan, chief secretary, IGP and senior officials attended the meeting while divisional commissioners and RPOs participated through video link.
