'Q' leaders make overtures to join 'N'

KARACHI - Some leaders of PML-Q and PML-F, led by Saleem Saifullah, will likely join the PML-N in near future, The Nation was told on Monday. Well-placed sources said that central leader of the PML-Q, Saleem Saifullah, has assured the top PML-N leadership that along with his like-minded friends in PML-Q and PML-F would soon join the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz. PML-Q stalwarts Saleem Saifullah and Humayun Akthar along with former federal minister and central leader of PML-F, Jehangir Tareen, may join PML-N, it was learnt. Sources in PML -N claimed that they have held successful negotiations with the PML-Q and PML-F leaders to motivate them to join their group. "We have a firm assurance that our like-minded friends in the PML-Q and PML-F would join our party before the upcoming Senate election," a PML-N central leader said. Sources further said that a split has appeared in the ranks of PML-Q dividing the party into three rival factions. "One of these groups, led by Saleem Saifullh, wants to join hands with PML-N, the other faction headed by Hamid Nasir Chattha has soft corner for the PPP while the remaining PML-Q leaders still keen to preserve their identity as a mainstream political party", the sources disclosed. When contacted, Saleem Saifullah said that he would not join the PML-N but added that he was striving to unite all PML factions. "It's need of the hour that all the groups of Pakistan Muslim League should be united to save the country", he said. "To save the Pakistan I wish that all the factions of Pakistan Muslim league should be united and I am striving for this purpose", he added. It may be recalled here that cold war between PML-N and the ruling PPP is gaining momentum with every passing day as both of them are extra miles garner support of the PML-Q with a view to win the upcoming Senate elections. It will be worth mentioning here that PML-Q has more than 50 seats in the National Assembly.
