Robina urges women to take part in outdoor activities

LAHORE - The newly-elected PFF Women Committee Chairperson Robina Irfan congratulated National Women Champions Young Rising Star (Rawalpindi) and Diya Women FC (Karachi) for getting full memberships along with Islamabad Football Association, Chaman's Afghan FC, PMC Atheltico Faisalabad, thus increasing the PFF Congress strength. She hailed efforts of PFF President Makhdoom Syed Faisal Saleh Hayat for promotion of football in the country and steps for Women soccer boost and termed it "Landmark", something out of nothing, "Countries like Pakistan are free to promote women's soccer within the limits of their culture and religion. Earlier, Robina Irfan and Farishtay Ali Sharifi were elected the chairperson and vice-chairperson, respectively. Both, Robina and Sharifi, also earned the honour of becoming PFF Congress member while Najma Naz (Khyber Pakhtunkhwa), Kiran Ilyas (Punjab) and MeJzgaan Orakzai (Islamabad) were elected as members. Robina Irfan, Chairperson of Pakistan Football Federation (PFF)'s Women Wing, has urged the sportswomen to participate in healthy outdoor activities for development and enhancement of their mental and physical capabilities. She hoped that bankers, services and teams like PIA, KRL, PEL etc will form women teams for further enhancement of women football in the country. The future of women football is bright and the registration of 42 clubs with PFF is a healthy sign. The officials of local clubs are playing their part effectively while the birth of organizational teams will help us to make mind for the Pakistan Premier Women Football League in near future," stated Robina Irfan. Robina stressed the need of more Seminars of Development of Football and called for full-time lady staff to deal with issues of referees, administrators, coaches and player in order to put the women activity further up." Currently, the women soccer is under men's coaches and referees but now the time has come to prepare lady coaches and referees for providing solid platform. The emergence of 42 women clubs in short-span is praiseworthy and PFF's step of National Club Championship will strengthen soccer. More clubs are needed in this regard and I hope that by the end of 2011, sixty clubs will get affiliation to PFF," said Robina who daughter Shlyla got the honour of scoring goal in recently concluded SAFF Women Championship at Bangladesh.
