LAHORE - Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz MPA Amir Hayat Khan Rokhri, who passed away here late Wednesday, was laid to rest at his native graveyard in Mianwali Thursday. Rokhri, (52), was rushed to a private hospital after he was caught by cardiac arrest where he breathed his last. His body was shifted to his native town Mianwali.

Hundreds of people, including party leaders, attended his funeral.  His Qul will be held on December 31 at 2pm at his Rokhri in Mianwali.

He is survived by his wife, two sons and a daughter. Rokhri, a sitting MPA, was a known sports personality due to his passion and efforts mainly for cricket and badminton.

He remained associated with the Lahore Cricket Club Association as its president for an unprecedented time period of 22 years and was also the secretary of Pakistan Badminton Federation for the last eight years.

Meanwhile, PML-N President Nawaz Sharif, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and other party leaders expressed their heartfelt grief over his sudden demise. 

They lauded the services of Rokhri for the party and people of province and prayed to Allah Almighty to rest the departed soul in eternal peace and grant fortitude to the bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss with courage.
