Seminar room inaugurated at PU


LAHORE - Punjab University Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran inaugurated seminar room and orientation classes at Main Library. Chief Librarian Ch Muhammad Hanif, Principal College of Engineering & Emerging Technologies Prof Dr Rafique Ahmad and other senior administrative officials were also present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, VC Dr Mujahid Kamran said the ups and downs of nations were linked to education. Education was the only difference among progressed and backwardness. He demanded the government to provide and publish low-priced books. He said reading helped clear thinking while it lacked students express their views correctly in Urdu and English.
Ch Hanif briefed about the Main Library on the occasion and said with the help of VC Dr Mujahid Kamran, number of computers in the library had been increased to 100 from 30 which is the highest number in any library of the country. He said 200 shelves had been provided in which volumes of national newspapers from 1954 had been placed. He said textbooks worth Rs 5 million were purchased annually and the library collection consisted of 500,000 and it was the largest library of the country. Dr Waqar Chaudhry also addressed on the occasion while Haseeb Ahmad Paracha gave presentation.
