MULTAN - Asking Allama Tahirul Qadri to prepare for polls instead of raising demands, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf President Makhdoom Javed Hashmi warned on Saturday the country cannot afford postponement of elections.

Talking to the journalists here at Multan Press Club, he said that the elections must be held on time as the democratic powers snatched the right of elections after a long struggle.

Answering a question, he said that more than half of the leaders possessed fake degrees and he would unearth these degrees if he was nominated interim prime minister. He said that the ineligible and corrupt leadership badly hurt the country and the time had come to get rid of them.

Responding to another question, he said that the elections were growing closer and billions of rupees were being given to the members of assemblies to buy the opinion of people. He said that major portion of these funds would be misappropriated and PTI would recover national money from the looters.

To a query, he said that the MQM would have to bow down before the Supreme Court. “If they have any reservations on delimitation or census, they should move court,” he added.

Referring to talks with Taliban, he said that it was Taliban who always withdrew from the process. He also criticized the government, saying it also backed out after making agreements with Taliban on American pressure. He suggested to the US to quit this region today instead of waiting for 2014. “If they quit now, the Taliban will have no reason for committing terrorism in the region. The residents of South and North Waziristan as well as Fata will ask them not to kill Pakistanis they are our brothers,” he added.
