ISLAMABAD – The National Institute of Folk and Traditional Heritage (Lok Virsa) in collaboration with the Ministry of National Heritage and Integration will organise the `Pakistan Week Mela’ to integrate Pakistan’s rich culture and heritage among the masses from January 1 to 7.

The weeklong activities would be arranged with the objective to save the national heritage for future generations and also to project the soft image of Pakistan across the border while giving a message of peace, unity and harmony.

The major features of the’ Pakistan Week Mela’ stalls inculding art and handy craft, handy craft and cultural variety of all the four provinces, AJK and Gilgit Baltistan would be presented .

Exhibition of cultural heritage, folklore songs and dance performances, cultural evenings, traditional floats and stage plays would also be arranged. According to an official of Lok Virsa ,the purpose of Week Mela Pakistan is to highlight and promote the culture of the country. 

As no nation can thrive without promoting its culture, the objective of long Week Mela is to involve and bring the youth closer to the cultural activities.

He further said, “Cultural heritage of the country is its asset, we want the youth to take pride in their own culture, and such festivals provide them a forum so that they get better understanding of their rich culture and heritage.
