KARACHI - Rida Mitha, a member of Sindh swimming team, won the highest number of gold medal at the recently-concluded 32nd National Games.

Ms Veena Masud, who managed the provincial team at Lahore, said Rida Mitha won eight gold medals and also won the best female swimmer award of the games. Previously due to some mistake in calculation, Soha Sanjarani was given the title, however, the organisers later gave Mitha the title.

Sindh finished fourth on the overall medal position behind Wapda which won the best team trophy, HEC and Punjab which surprised Sindh when it took third position. In the meantime, Veena congratulated Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) and the Punjab Olympic Association (PbOA) for the successful conduction and completion of the 32nd National Games despite the numerous challenges that were thrown in their path.

“That was a wonderful effort of unity for the youth of our country that typifies the true Olympic spirit. All the participating units were true Olympic family and were happy that they were a part of Games,” Veena concluded.
