The people of Azad Kashmir welcome the DGMOs meeting. The skirmishes at the Line of Control are a source of concern and one of the major problems we are facing, especially while residing along the LoC. The UNMOGIP officials are witness to it. Frequent uprooting and displacements because of the Indian shelling affects life and pace of work amongst the residents which affects children’s schooling, patients cure and business activity round the clock.

If something concrete comes of these talks, which is expected, it would certainly help the locals to stabilizing settlements and continue with work without the fear of violence and shelling from across the LoC. At the same time, it is requested that a strategy be worked out and agreed upon over the people to people exchange and interaction as the idea of setting up of fence along the Line of Control by India has almost spoiled the prospect. The people on the either side of the Loc are related to each other and cannot break the ties. They also have ongoing business on both sides, which the human rights groups also observe as a major concern.
