Rawalpindi - A 25-year-old man was killed while another sustained severe bullet injuries when an unknown assailant launched an armed attack on them here at Narnakari Bazaar within the limits of Police Station on Monday.

After committing the crime, the attacker managed to escape from the scene while the dead and the injured were rushed to District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital where they were identified as Jaffar Khan (deceased) and Anzar Khan, both residents of Bajur Agency. An eyewitness told The Nation that both victims were sitting on their small garments shop when an unknown man appeared and opened indiscriminate firing on them. He added that Jaffar Khan was killed on the spot and Anzar sustained multiple bullet injuries.  A heavy contingent of police rushed to the crime scene and cordoned off the area.

Station House Officer (SHO) PS Gunjmandi, when contacted, refused to comment on the issue, saying he was busy in the hospital. A police officer seeking anonymity told The Nation that it was almost the 13th incident in the year 2014 of killing traders of Bajur by unknown attackers. He said that all Pakhtoons belonging to Bajur Agency had enmities in their native towns and were running businesses in Gawalmandi, Ganjmandi and Banni. Their enemies arrive here, target them and run back to Bajur Agency, he said, adding that unfortunately police could not solve even a single case during the year.
