The restoration of freight trains and raise in the revenue of Pakistan Railways is the foremost priority, said Pakistan Railways AGM (passengers) Maqsoodun Nabi while talking to newsmen after inspection of Railway Station here the other day.

FGIR Ghazanfar Shah, COGS Mehmoodul Hasan, DS Lahore Abdul Hameed Raazi, DTO Lahore Hamdan Nazeer, DCO Lahore Shehbaz Babar and Group Inspector Munawar Hussain Khanna accompanied Him.

He said, “Our focus is on restoration of freight trains service; some goods trains has been restarted and strenuous efforts are underway to steer out the railways from deficit by increasing revenue.” He pointed out that suspension of passenger trains was troublesome because people were deprived of a cheap and safe mean of travelling. “Increase in in the PR income will enhance its capability to facilitate passengers and ensure best possible service to passengers,” he claimed.

“The time of repeated engine failure has gone which caused great inconvenience to passengers,” he said, adding that new engines had been included in the fleet whereas overhauling of old engines had been started through own sources which will take the railway towards betterment.

Maqsoodun Nabi expressed the resolve that the PR management had targeted restoration of freight trains and provision of best travelling facilities to the public. He said that confidence of passengers which had broken due to repeated failure of railway system was being restored gradually. He declared that reservations of passengers would be removed and suspended passenger trains will be on track soon.
