Two more children died in District Teaching Hospital on Monday due to lack of medical facilities, taking the death toll to in the hospital to 74 during the past 41 days.

The provincial government has not been able to provide the hospital with proper technical facilities required for the treatment of infants and children. The grieving parents said that the administration had failed to address the issue. The death of infants and children in Tharparkar and Sargodha have posed a question mark on the performance of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and Pakistan Muslim League- Nawaz (PML-N) governments in Sindh and Punjab where drought and lack of medical facilities respectively have claimed the lives of newborn and other children.

More than 250 infants have died in Thar whereas the authorities concerned are shying away in addressing the crisis.
