ISLAMABAD - Islamabad Leopard's skipper Zohaib Ahmad was declared outstanding cricketer and the best all-rounder of the country's premier tournament - Quaid-e-Azam Trophy Gold, which recently concluded.

Zohaib helped Islamabad finish second among regions and overall, sixth position in 12 participating teams, ahead of previous champions Rawalpindi Rams. The 28-year old all-rounder, who also led PTV in Grade-I, has scored 404 runs with the help of four half centuries and also grabbed 37 wickets, picking up five wickets in an innings twice.

Zohaib Ahmed had an outstanding performance in Quaid-e-Azam Trophy Gold this year. In the last T20 Cup for departmental first-class teams, Zohaib also earned honor of the best all-rounder, none other cricketer playing in the first-class tournament earned the same feat of becoming best all-rounder twice in back-to-back years.

Zohaib has also represented the country in U-19 and Pakistan A teams. He has been performing excellently both with bat and ball and is highly rated in the national cricket circuit. Zohaib is waiting for an opportunity to represent the country in international matches. Pakistan team is in dire need of a genuine all-rounder, who may not only bowl well but can also score some handy runs at the middle and later part of the innings.

This is high time, when PCB chief selector Moin Khan must look beyond one certain province and provide justice to not only players like Zohaib but also to Immad Wasim, who has been a prolific all-rounder for Islamabad for the last couple of years, but he is always denied due to dirty politics.

It is the time when Shakil Sheikh, who is president of Islamabad Region and also PCB Governing Body member, must raise voice for the federal capital players, who are finding it really difficult to get into the national team despite performing exceptionally in domestic circuit and are knocking at the national team’s doors since long. Pakistan cricket team is in dire need of a quality all-rounder for the prestigious World Cup, which is just round the corner. With some key players already missing the mega event, it is high time when the PCB must prefer better alternatives and provide justice to the players who are suffering long.
