ISLAMABAD - Ministry of Water and Power Tuesday announced that Nandipur power plant would run to its full capacity after August 2016.

“Due to less capacity of furnace oil treatment plant, Nandipur project is not able to generate 425MW electricity presently. We will take another one year to resolve all issues completely,” said Minister for Water and Power, Khawaja Asif, while answering questions of National Assembly standing committee on water and power.

He said that the project remained closed for two months due to differences between plant’s managing director and board. “We will soon fix the responsibility of delay and under capacity after receiving enquiry reports, he said.

Asif said that the delay in project was due to not sourcing operation and maintenance of the plant on time. He revealed that government engineers do not have expertise to run the plant. He insisted that according to NAB and Transparency International there was no corruption in the project. He admitted that due to delay in the project the nation is suffering.
