SADIQABAD - A local Panchayat at Pandit Dari village gave the verdict of expulsion of a 10-year old boy from the area in a Karo Kari case on the charge of allegedly having illicit relations with a seven-year-old girl here the other day.
Zahida Bibi, mother of the boy, submitted an application to Sadiqabad Saddr police, stating that Panchayat elders convicted his son, Shafiq, Class-V student, on false accusation of developing illicit relations with a seven-year-old girl. She added that the Panchayat elders asked her son to leave the village and had threatened to kill him if he stayed in the area.
In her application, Zahida Bibi asserted that her son was innocent and alleging that the girl’s family had called the Panchayat over a family dispute with them and took verdict in their favour. She sought police help as life of her son was in danger.
Saddr police Station House Officer Rana Abdul Hadi told The Nation that he had received application from the boy’s mother. He added that police had launched investigation into the incident in the light of allegations levelled by both the parties against each other. The culprits would be punished as per the law, the SHO said.
