KARACHI - The provincial government has imposed complete ban on aerial firing , one wheeling, motorcycle and car racing with or without silencers throughout the province on New Year night. "It has been observed over the years that youth celebrate the New Year night with enthusiasm and usually resort to aerial firing and one wheeling while mounted on motorbikes besides driving four wheelers at a high speed, resulting in casualties and fatal accidents," reads a notification issued by Sindh Home Secretary Qazi Shahid Pervez. It further stated that the government of Sindh felt that in order to safeguard the lives of its citizens and to prevent any untoward situation due to aerial firing and one wheeling or car racing, even with or without silencers, it is expedient to prohibit these activities, and that the government of Sindh in exercise of the powers conferred under Section 144 (6) CrPC do hereby impose complete ban on aerial firing , one wheeling, racing of motorcycles and cars with and without silencers throughout the province on New Year night.

 

 “In pursuance of Section 195 (i) (a) of CrPC, the SHOs of police stations concerned are authorised to register complaints under Section 188 of the PPC against the violators of this notification,” it concluded.
