KARACHI - Pakistan Navy will shortly acquire Airborne Early Warning AEW aircraft and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles UAVs to further strengthen its air fleet. This was stated by Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Noman Bashir on Thursday while addressing induction ceremony of a Fokker aircraft and commissioning of T56 Engine Test Bench at Pakistan Navy Aviation base PNS Mehran here. He said induction of Z9 helicopters, AEWs, UAVs and additional P-3Cs would be a force multiplier for Naval air arm. To enhance subsurface defence capability, contract of Type-214 submarines would be concluded soon, he added. Commander Naval Aviation, Commodore Adnan Nazir said Fokker a versatile and multi role aircraft, would augment operational flexibility of air power. The set up of T56 Engine Test Bench is another endeavor towards self reliance as it would be utilised for engine overhaul and maintenance of P-3C aircraft, minimising dependence on manufacturer.
