SWABI - Sardar Ali Khan, a member of Khyber Pakhtun-khwa Assembly, was arrested from courtroom on Saturday when the Additional Sessions Judge Tehsil Chota Lahor cancelled his bail before arrest in the fake BA degree case on Saturday. Sardar Ali was elected from PF-34, Swabi-4, as an independent candidate in 2008 elections. He had defeated PPP-S candidate Abdul Karim Khan. Some eight days back a written application was submitted at Tehsil Chota Lahor police station by the Election Commission officials, demanding that a case should be registered against Ali in the fake degree case. A case was registered against Ali on Jan 21 under the Representation of People Act 1976 and Sections 94, 199, 471, 200 and 420 PCC. After the registration of the FIR, he secured his bail before arrest from the court which was not extended by Additional Sessions Judge Jehangir Khan, Tehsil Chota Lahor. The next hearing of his case would take place on Monday (tomorrow). Agencies add: A fresh bail application was filed in the Swabi court. It is pertinent to recall that criminal proceedings are underay against some parliamentarians for holding fake degrees.
