ISLAMABAD Shehzad Town police have arrested eight car snatchers after busting two inter-provincial gangs as well as have nabbed 30 outlaws involved in crime of heinous nature and recovered 10 stolen vehicles and eight pistols from them. Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, SSP Islamabad Tahir Alam Khan said police team had succeeded to bust two inter-provincial gangs comprising eight accused involved in incidents of car snatching, dacoity, and theft and also recovered eight pistols ad 10 snatched vehicles from them. A total of 19 cases have been registered against them regarding vehicle theft, car snatching, dacoity and possession of illegal weapons at Shehzad Town Police Station, he added. The accused have confessed that they used to sell the vehicles in Charsada after lifting them and fixing the bodies of other vehicles at stolen vehicles as well as also sell the parts of the Suzuki Mehran and FX in the market. He said that they also snatched vehicles at gunpoint after hiring them from various areas of the twin cities. Owners of six vehicles have been conveyed about the recovery of their vehicles while search for the owners of remaining vehicles is under way. The SSP said that Islamabad had such a geographic location that the car thieves succeeded to enter its adjacent districts and sell vehicles there. This situation is challenging for us and the police teams visit tribal areas and other adjacent districts frequently for recovery of the vehicles.
