‘Jilted’ worker ends life

LAHORE – A 22-year-old man committed suicide by swallowing poisonous pills in the Shahdara area, police said on Tuesday. However, the family of the youth alleged that he was poisoned to death. The deceased was identified as Zulfikar Ahmed, a factory worker.
Investigators said they found a ‘suicide note’ from his pocket, reading: “I fell in love with a girl and wanted to tie the knot with her but her family turned down the proposal.”
They added that passersby spotted the body alongside a road near the shrine of Sabz Peer and phoned the police that rushed to the site and removed it to morgue for autopsy. Police have registered a case and started investigation.
Killed: A father of three was killed when a gas cylinder exploded at his house on Tuesday. Resident of Shamsabad, Malik Muhammad Saeed, was present in the house when all of a sudden the gas cylinder exploded, wounding 55-year-old man seriously. He was raced up to hospital where he succumbed.
