GSP-Plus status to boost economy: Sadiq

ISLAMABAD- Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq said while addressing an inaugural meeting of Pakistan-European Union (EU) Parliamentary Friendship Group that diplomatic interactions, parliamentary diplomacy and government’s efforts had won Pakistan a GSP-Plus status from the EU.

This status would strengthen the deteriorating economic state of the country and open employment opportunities for the people.

He appreciated EU’s diplomatic efforts and urged the cooperative diplomats to visit the entire country. Sadiq said parliamentary delegations visiting Pakistan would help improve economic ties between Pakistan and EU.

GSP-Plus status to fight against terrorism: State minister (Commerce) Khurram Dastgir said regarding significance of the GSP-plus granted by the EU, that it would improve Pakistan’s global image and would work to eradicate terrorism.

Addressing the inaugural meeting, Dastgir said that this initiative would boost industrial growth and create job opportunities in the country. This prestige would help the economic development of the country, he added.
