ISLAMABAD - Parliamentary delegations from Pakistan and South Korea met on Thursday and agreed to strengthen bilateral trade and enhance economic cooperation and to improve political ties between the two nations.

A 19-member South Korean Parliamentary delegation led by National Assembly of South Korea Speaker Kang Chang Hee met Senate Chairman Syed Nayyer Hussain Bokhari at the Parliament House and exchanged views of mutual interest and bilateral significance. The Korean parliamentary delegation is on a two-day visit to Pakistan.

Bokhari said Pakistan places its foreign relation with South Korea in high esteem. He appreciated the economic development of South Korea and observed Pakistan could learn from the developed country. He underscored the need for enhancement of bilateral trade between the two countries and said Korean investors should invest in different fields for mutual benefit.

He demanded that more skilled labour from Pakistan should be given opportunities in South Korea to work. The Senate Chairman underscored the need for improving cultural exchange and parliamentary links and said Pak-Korea friendship group had been created in the National Assembly to promote bilateral cooperation at the parliamentary level.

Leader of House in the Senate Raja Muhammad Zafar ul Haq, Senators Dr Saeeda Iqbal, Afrasiab Khattak, Eng Rashid Ahmed Khan and Senator-in-waiting Usman Saifullah Khan also expressed their points of view and said consolidating bilateral and multi-dimensional cooperation should be considered.
