The Joint Investigation team (JIT) of Bacha Khan University attack has called it the result of a security lapse. According to the JIT’s report the police did not reach on time after being called.

According to the presented report the removal of BKU’s vice chancellor has been demanded. “The security in-charge of the university was also absent on the day,” the report said.

The report will be presented to the high authorities and Governor KP for further action.

The Bacha Khan University was attacked by TTP affiliated militants on January 20 in which 21 people were killed, mostly students and staff members. The attack was conducted by four militants in the early hours of the day.

Due to quick counter-action the militants were killed and the university was saved from major losses. It was the second major attack on an educational institution in Pakistan after APS in December 2014.

After the attack the security has been on high alert in educational institutes of Pakistan. All schools have been closed in Punjab till February 1.
