LAHORE - Last chapter of English debates at Inter, Degree and Postgraduate levels was held in connection with the Chief Minister’s Debate/Speech Competitions at provincial level at Govt Islamia College, Civil Lines Friday. College Principal Prof Muhammad Talat Dar chaired the session.

Students belonging to colleges from the Punjab took part in the debate contest and highlighted their arguments in an enthusiastic manner. The suggested topic for the debate at Inter level was –“We are the architect of our own fate”.

Ahmed Khan, Postgraduate College, Bahawalpur Ahmed Feroz, Pak Garrison Higher Secondary School, Nankana Sahab, and Rana Shehroz bagged first, second and third position, respectively.

“Nature has enough for our need but not for our greed” was the topic for the debate at Degree level. M. Waqar Akram, Govt S.E. College, Bahawalpur, got first, position, Hafiz Muhammad Qadir, Govt Postgraduate College, Sahiwal second position and Shamail Nadeem, Govt B.G. College, Jhelum.

The topic for the debate at Postgraduate level was – “The greatest glory lies not in falling but in rising every time you fall”. The position-holders are Irtaza Rauf, Govt Postgraduate College, Sahiwal, (first position), Hafiz Muhammad Raees, Govt Postgraduate College, Jhelum, (second position), and Muhammad Rizwan, Govt Emerson College, Multan (third position). The Principal drew attention of the students to the importance of debates. He also appreciated the vision of the chief minister.
