Ijaz survives close scare in national bowling

ISLAMABAD - Two-time national champion Ijaz Ur Rehman survived very close scare before booking his place in the last 16 of the masters singles round of the 9th National Tenpin Bowling Championship 2016 here at Leisure City Bowling Club Safa Gold Mall on late Thursday night.
Ijaz was in deep trouble after first four games and required all his experience to avoid big upset, as he had never ousted from the main round in all the previous championships so he bounced back in style and booked his berth in the last 16.
It was Islamabad’s hero and one-time former national champion M Hussain Chatha, who secured top position to storm into last 16, with the total average of 185.6 in eight games, while fast emerging bowler Ali Surya of Karachi finished with the total average of 180 in eight games. National junior champion Sardar Ahmer Abbas Saldera of Karachi secured third position with the total average of 178.3 in eight games.
Top 16 players qualified for the second (quarterfinal) included M Hussain Chatha, Ali Suria, Ahmer Abbas Saldera, Daniyal Shah, Ashiq Ali, Waqar Abbasi, Aleem Agha, Sadaqat Ali, Khwaja Ahmed, Ijaz ur Rehman, Fazil, Inam, Zafar Iqbal, Skinadar Hayat, Zahid Mehmood and Dr Khan.
